Our Facilities

Building and Facilities

Emmanuel is registered for 115 elderly - our frail care has a capacity for 42 frail people.

The design and layout of the building were planned to meet the needs of the elderly and there are aid devices throughout the house to help them get along. The corridors are wide and have handrails. We have a lift that caters for transporting the elderly to the different floors and it can also accommodate a bed when necessary. A ramp and staircases are also available.

Our laundry is open 6 days a week and for those not capable of doing their own laundry anymore, their washing is done once a week.

Three meals are prepared daily for the elderly and staff and are enjoyed in the dining room.

We have a beautiful garden with various animals in the courtyard and the rest of the premises are kept as low maintenance as possible, with evergreen shrubs, etc.

We have a library with something for everyone where anyone can borrow a book or three to read.

The following regular services are available to our residents: hand and feet care, transport to medical services, a weekly visit from a local doctor, a weekly visit from the hairdresser and an audiologist once a month. Physiotherapists, dentists, optometrists, hospitals and a hearing centre are all in the vicinity of the home.

We want to ensure our elderlies' safety at all times and have numerous procedures in place and also do regular fire evacuation drills. We also have a state-of-the-art fire detection system in place, which was donated to us.

Health and Wellness

Weekly activities are presented to keep the elderlies' brains and bodies active, as well as various arts and craft projects throughout the year... Yearly some of the elderly participate in the Pretty Things for Little Things competition hosted by Checkers.

We also strive for spiritual wellness through daily prayer meetings, Bible study twice a week, a praise service on Tuesday nights, weekly church services being broadcasted on our PA system from Jatniël and counselling by our social worker and pastor if needed. Special services are held on Passover, Christmas, Ascension Day, etc.

Our Weekly Activities

To keep physically active is very important in keeping old age at bay and at Emmanuel our elderly keep busy throughout the week. On Monday afternoons there is sing-song in the dining room, Tuesday afternoons outside games and Wednesday afternoons board games can be played.

There are also various social outings throughout the year, e.g. the Chelsea flower show at Garden World, outings to other old age homes, boeresport, etc.

"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth." - 3Jn 1:2
