Empowering the elderly in rural areas

 

With our outreach project we reach out to more or less 400 frail elderly from previously disadvantaged communities. 

 

Our outreach project is aimed at the elderly in rural areas such as Magaliesburg, Hekpoort, Masakhane, Maanhaarrand and Orient Hills. The outreach team goes out Mondays to Fridays to these areas to do home-based care for those elderly who are not able to help themselves anymore. There is also a luncheon club for the community where they receive a good meal, as well as spiritual care in the form of a Bible study and singing and then they also do crafts, play games, exercise and get checked out by the careworkers (blood pressure, sugar, etc.). Some of the volunteers of Emmanuel go with once a month to preach the gospel and pray for the elderly there.

The government subsides this project and we need to reach certain goals for us to be able to get this grant every year.
